We recently launched a brand new website for Baker Hardman, to give them a modern and easy to use website. From the very first conversation, we took the time to understand exactly what the firm needed.
The Brief
Baker Hardman came to us with a clear goal. They need us to create a modern website that shows every legal service they offer and can help them get discovered online.
Like a lot of businesses, they had an older site that wasn’t doing them justice, it didn’t reflect where they were as a company anymore and wasn’t flexible enough to be developed and improved as they needed.
This is something we come across regularly, particularly with professional services like solicitors. A website can look fine on the surface, but if it’s not structured properly or optimised for how people actually search online, it’s quietly working against you and there can be resistance to changes in sectors where the technical day to day keeps you busy. That’s before we even get into the technical side of having a website that’s easy to update and still works years after it’s built.
Once we understood what Baker Hardman needed, we got straight to work.
The Design
We kept the design simple and modern so it wouldn’t get in the way of their brand and services. For a solicitor, trust and professionalism are everything, and a cluttered or overly flashy website can actually undermine that. We wanted to create a site that feels confident and easy to use, without looking distracting or untrustworthy.
We also made sure the design stayed true to the firm’s existing brand guidelines. Consistency matters, especially for a business where clients are placing a lot of trust in you and a new website shouldn’t mean starting from scratch with brand recognition.
The new site feels like a natural, polished version of who they already are, not something that looks like it could belong to any solicitor in Preston.
One thing we’re pleased to integrate into the new website is our blocks system. All of our custom built WordPress websites are built with our flexible blocks system so that new pages can easily be made as and when you need them, without needing to go back through development or design. Everything just works as it should.
With this new system the team can easily update pages, move content around, and make changes, ideal when you need to update pages as the law changes!
The site is also built to grow with the firm. As they expand their services, add team members, or want to highlight on certain services, the website can flex to meet that without needing a full rebuild. We’ve built this website to be a long-term asset, not something that’ll need replacing in two years.
The Results
The feedback from the client has been really positive. The team internally responded well to the new design, and the firm as a whole agrees it’s an improvement from what they had before.
From the homepage it’s clearer for clients to quickly get in touch with visible forms, phone numbers and contact details. Users are clearly directed to the different legal services and offer it’s a much more simple experience to get the help they need.
From our side, we’re already seeing improvements in organic visibility. The website has been built with modern SEO best practices from the ground up, which means search engines can properly read and index the content. It’s still early days, but we’re already seeing positive signals that things are heading in the right direction.
